Juana I. Edmond is a groundbreaking figure in Dominican professional boxing and a dedicated community leader. In 1986, she became the first woman in the Dominican Republic to be licensed as a professional boxing promoter, paving the way for future generations of women in sports promotion.

After immigrating to the United States in 1992, she continued her mission of uplifting athletes at both the amateur and professional levels. Today, Juana operates a youth boxing gym in Newark, New Jersey, providing free after-school boxing programs led by volunteer coaches, where young fighters have gone on to compete—and win—in Golden Gloves, Diamond Gloves, national and international competitions. One of her promising athletes is currently pursuing a path toward future Olympic competition.

As the founder of EDMOND PROMOTIONS, Juana is dedicated to elevating the next generation of champions. From grassroots local shows like Night of Champions at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ (3/29/25) and Power and Glory Fight Night at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ (11/15/25) to events in the Bahamas and beyond. Juana continues to expand her reach with an aggressive approach to matchmaking and event promotion, the mission of EDMOND PROMOTIONS remains simple: "keep the integrity of the sport alive and give every underdog a chance to be a champion".
